Agrani Bank Limited renamed Agrani Bank PLC

The name of state owned Agrani Bank Limited has changed. Henceforth, the name of the bank will be Agrani Bank PLC.

Agrani Bank Limited was approved to change its name to Agrani Bank PLC in the third special general meeting on Thursday, says a press release.

The meeting was held in the board room of the head office of the bank. As a result, Agrani Bank PLC will start operations under the new name from now.

At the meeting, chairman of the Board of Directors Dr Zaid Bakht, government representative and joint secretary of the financial institution department of the Finance Ministry Nahid Hossain, Board of Directors Biswajit Bhattacharya Khokon, Mafiz Uddin Ahmed, Kashem Humayun, KMN Manjurul Haque Labloo, Khondker Fazle Rashid, Tanjina Ismail, Md Shahadat Hossain, Mohammad Masud Rana Chowdhury, Managing Director and CEO of the bank Md Murshedul Kabir, Observer and executive director of Bangladesh Bank Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, Agrani Bank Deputy Managing Director Wahida Begum, Md Anwarul Islam, Shyamal Krishna Saha and Rezina Parveen, company secretary SM Tawhide Rabbani were present.

The amended company Act 2020 has newly added section 11(Ka) regarding identification of limited liability companies. In the new section, it is mandatory to write public limited company or PLC at the end of the name of the public limited company, the release added.
