To make banking services more inclusive and user-friendly, state-owned BASIC Bank Limited organised a program titled ‘Innovation Showcase and Award Giving Ceremony’.
According to a press release, the event was held under the supervision of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance as part of BASIC Bank's e-Governance and Innovation Action Plan for the FY 2024-25. The program was held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the bank’s head office.
The program was graced by Md. Ahsan Kabir, Additional Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, as the Chief Guest; Farida Yasmin, Joint Secretary, as the Special Guest; and Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman of BASIC Bank’s Board of Directors, as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was presided over by Md. Quamruzzaman Khan, Managing Director & CEO of BASIC Bank Limited.
In the event, BASIC Bank presented three of its key innovations: Document Management Software, NPL (Non-Performing Loan) Management Software, and Pension Pay Through Magpie Mobile App. Among these 3 (three), the Pension Pay through Magpie Mobile App was accepted and nominated as the best innovation, and the award was presented to the respective innovation team members, Md. Khademul Islam, AGM, Md. Rowshan Shahriar, SPO & Md. Jahirul Islam, SPO, was welcomed by the distinguished guests.
Among others- Subash Chandra Das, FCMA, FCA, Deputy Managing Director of BASIC Bank, as well as General Managers- Md. Ismail, Md. Momenul Hoque, Md. Nashir Uddin, Sumit Ranjan Nath, Md. Hasan Imam, Dulon Kanti Chakraborty, Md. Ghulam Sayeed Khan, Saidur Rahman Sohel, and Nurur Rahman Chowdhury. Deputy General Managers - A.M. Shahed Husain, Helena Parvin, Md. Helal Uddin, Mohammad Jasim Uddin, and Mohammad Nazmul Islam were also present, along with other officers and staff members from various departments of the bank on the occasion.
In their speeches, the guests emphasized that the main goal of the innovation showcase was to explore ways to make banking services simple, convenient and faster for customers. They called for collective efforts to ensure excellence in customer service and to contribute significantly to the bank’s sustained growth and development. Meanwhile, BASIC Bank is trying its best to take a turnaround and regain its old glory.
