Dongfang Knitting (BD) Co Ltd is set to invest $27.8 million to set up a sock factory in BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) located at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN), Mirsharai, Chattogram.
Ali Reza Mazid, member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Fang Zhendong, managing director of Dongfang Knitting (BD) Co Ltd signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at BEPZA Complex in the capital on Tuesday, said a press release.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman was present at the signing ceremony.
Dongfang Knitting will produce 216 million pairs of socks annually for men, women and kids while creating employment opportunities for 5192 Bangladeshi nationals.
Senior officials from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.
