Commerce adviser visits ICAB

Sk. Bashir Uddin, Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Textiles & Jute, GoB briefly visited the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) on 12 December 2024 to see the activities of the Institute.

ICAB President Mohammed Forkan Uddin FCA briefed the adviser about the activities of ICAB including bringing discipline & ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance in the economy of the country, according to a press release. 

The president mentioned that the ICAB produces skilled manpower by imparting Chartered Accountancy Education and is the primary regulator of the profession.

He also mentioned to the adviser that Chartered Accountants are conducting statutory audits as per Company Act, 1994.

He requested the support of the Ministry of Commerce as the parent ministry in professional development.

The adviser urged the professional Chartered Accountants to work collectively for the betterment of the financial sector of the country.

He advised the Council of the Institute to come forward with specific policy reform proposals for the financial sector of the country including direct and indirect tax regime.

ICAB Vice President MBM Lutful Hadee FCA, Vice President Maria Howlader FCA, ICAB Immediate Past President Md. Moniruzzaman FCA, Council Members & Past Presidents Kamrul Abedin FCA, Nasir Uddin Ahmed FCA, Council Member Md. Mahamud Hosain FCA, Chief Executive Officer Shubhashish Bose, Chief Operating Officer Mahbub Ahmed Siddique FCA, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the key involvement of the professional accountants in the financial sector.

ICAB's other senior officials were also present during the occasion, the release adds.
