The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the intent to spur industrial growth.
DCCI president barrister Md Sameer Sattar and BSCIC chairman Md Mahbubor Rahman inked the document on behalf of their respective organisations in the DCCI auditorium on Monday.
As per the MoU, Mr Sattar said, DCCI's new membership enrolment/membership renewal and country-of-origin services will be integrated with the One-Stop Service (OSS) portal of BSCIC.
BSCIC's OSS currently provides 29 services of its own and 13 of other organisations.
Moreover, according to the MoU, any Dhaka-based member of BSCIC can be a member of DCCI, Mr Sattar cited.
"If we can't implement the MoU in practice, it will remain as a signed document only and nobody will get any benefit out of it," he stated.
BSCIC chairman Rahman said BSCIC was established by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with an eye to expediting rapid industrialisation in the country.
He hoped the MoU between DCCI and BSCIC would help facilitate industrialisation in the country.
Besides, the MoU will act as a bridge between the member of BSCIC and DCCI for greater business integration in future, according to Mr Rahman.
DCCI senior vice-president SM Golam Faruk Alamgir (Arman) and vice-president Md Junaed Ibna Ali, BSCIC director (skills and tech) Kazi Mahbubur Rashid and DGM (tech) and head of ICT Md Delwar Hossain were also present at the signing ceremony.
