Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a budget of Tk 67.60 billion (Tk 6,760.74 crore) for the fiscal year of 2024-25.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh announced the budget at Mayor Hanif Auditorium at the Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka.
The revenue income in the new budget from its own source is Tk 13.99 billion (Tk 1,399.18 crore) while Tk 1.04 billion (Tk 104.75 crore) will come from other sectors.
Tk 43.63 billion (Tk 4,363 crore) will come from government and foreign sources while Tk 700 million (Tk 70 crore) from government and block allocation.
The total operating expenditure has been estimated at Tk 5.53 billion (Tk 553.60 crore) while other expenses have been estimated at Tk 150 million (Tk 15.02 crore).
Besides, DSCC’s own financing development expenditure is Tk 10.05 billion (Tk 1,005.31 crore) while government and foreign auxiliary development expenditure is estimated at Tk 43.63 billion (Tk 4,363 crore).
Total development expenditure is determined at Tk 53.68 billion (Tk 5,368.31 crore) and the closing status is estimated at Tk 8.23 billion (Tk 823.81 crore).
DSCC has allocated Tk 1 billion (Tk 100 crore) for resolving the waterlogging problem in the financial year 2024-2025.
Apart from this, another Tk. one crore has been allocated for the purchase and installation of water pumps to alleviate waterlogging.
In the new financial year, DSCC has allocated Tk 444.7 million (Tk 44.47 crore) for mosquito eradication.
Analyzing the budget for the financial year 2024-2025, it has been found that DSCC will spend Tk 400 million (Tk 40 crore) to buy pesticides used to kill mosquitoes in the current financial year.
Besides, Tk 37.5 million (Tk 3.75 crore) will be spent on foggers, wheels, spray machines and transport.
Bleaching powder and disinfectant will be bought at a cost of another Tk 50 lakh. The latest mosquito control equipment will be purchased at a cost of Tk 50 lakh.
Last year, DSCC announced a budget of Tk 67.51 billion (Tk 6,751.56 crore) for the fiscal year 2023-2024.
