Maintaining a harmonious relationship between employers and workers is crucial for the long-term success and growth of the garment industry in Bangladesh, said Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan.
He said industrial harmony not only benefits the industry itself but also contributes to the overall economic and social well-being of the country.
Faruque came up with the observations during his visit to Uttara Export Processing Zone (UEPZ) in Nilphamari on January 15, said a press release.
He toured factories in the EPZ and talked to both workers and employers.
Those who accompanied him during the visit were Md Shariful Islam, executive director of Uttara EPZ; Shahadat Musharraf Khan, managing director, Section Seven International Ltd and president, Bangladesh EPZ Investors' Association (BEPZIA); and Sharmeen Hassan Tithi, director, Giant Group.
The Uttara EPZ serves as an example where workers and employers maintain a sound relationship, contributing to a positive work environment, which, in turn, enhances productivity, observed Faruque.
He highlighted that a stable and cooperative work environment is attractive to both domestic and international investors, leading to increased economic stability and growth.
The BGMEA President urged workers and entrepreneurs to remain united and collaborate for the greater interests of the RMG industry.
