EuroCham Bangladesh launched to enhance economic ties

The European Union and Bangladesh have marked a significant milestone with the launch of the European Union Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Bangladesh, aimed at boosting trade, investment, and sustainable development. The ceremony was held at the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka recently, according to a press statement Saturday.

EuroCham Chairperson Nuria Lopez highlighted the Chamber’s role in positioning Bangladesh as a prominent destination for European investment, while Vice-Chairperson Ziaur Rahman emphasised its importance in connecting businesses and policymakers to address issues such as LDC graduation. Treasurer Iqbal Chowdhury also spoke during the event.

EU Ambassador Michael Miller reaffirmed the EU’s dedication to enhancing business opportunities and promoting sustainable practices.

The ceremony brought together prominent figures, including Lutfey Siddiqi, Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy on International Affairs; Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, BIDA Executive Chairman; and Abdur Rahman Khan, NBR Chairman.

Heads of Mission from various EU member states, key government officials, and leading business figures attended the event. Advisers from several ministries also showed support via video messages, highlighting the importance of the launch for Bangladesh’s economic development.
