Friday operation of metro rail has finally been launched in the city, providing a festive travel experience for holidaymakers.

For the first time, residents of the capital enjoyed their day off riding the metro rail, with the service successfully starting from Uttara to Motijheel today.

Abdur Rouf, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said that the first train departed from Uttara North station at 3:30 pm, heading to Motijheel, according to a BSS report.

From now on, the metro will operate every Friday, running from Uttara North to Motijheel from 3:30 pm to 9:00 pm, and from Motijheel back to Uttara North from 3:50 pm to 9:40 pm.

In another development, metro service has also been resumed at Kazipara station, which underwent repairs after sustaining damage during the anti-discrimination movement in July. Although some equipment is still being fixed, the station has been prepared for operation to meet commuter demand.
