In a short span of time, the local e-commerce website GarirBazar has achieved a tremendous amount of car sale transactions, locally advertised tens of thousands of car listings, and generated countless amounts of ongoing organic traffic.

GarirBazar is currently the country’s leading dedicated online marketplace to buy and sell cars in Bangladesh, according to a press release.

The website attracts more than tens of thousands of unique visitors per day, who frequently visit the website to research and compare the latest used cars for sale in Bangladesh.

Head of Sales of the company Hridoy Rahman mentioned, “Our aim is to enable car buyers in Bangladesh to seamlessly compare the best car models and prices, and help them find the car of their dreams, which is attainable within their budget.”

GarirBazar differentiates its online platform with local classified websites such as Bikroy by offering dedicated content and insights about cars in Bangladesh, primarily through its high-quality videos and blogs specifically targeted to Bangladesh’s community of passionate car enthusiasts, and aspires to be “Bangladesh’s version of Top Gear,” the release says.

The website is currently owned by the local start-up studio Tiger Digital Ventures (TDV) and backed by the globally renowned Emerging Classified Ventures (ECV), which has backed many other successful tech startups from Asia, Africa and South America.

ECV’s CEO and Co-Founder, Fredrik Orrenius mentioned, “We are very excited about our investment in GarirBazar and expect the website to grow more in local usage given Bangladesh’s young and tech-savvy population looking to find ways to search and compare cars without having to rely on offline and traditional methods.”

In addition to producing high-end car videos catered to Dhaka’s community of car enthusiasts, Tiger Digital Ventures (TDV) also launched its own car news website GarirNews.com, which promotes the latest car reviews, insights and news about Bangladesh’s car sector, according to the release.

GarirBazar has even started to purchase its own fleet of cars, which are thoroughly checked for quality assurance, refurbished, and listed for sale to maximise the company’s Gross Merchandise Value (GMV).

This sort of business model is comparable to Malaysia’s Carsome Group, the release adds.
