The price of gold has increased again in the Bangladeshi market. The price of one bhori 22-carat gold (11.664 grams) has been increased by Tk 1,832. This brings the price of the precious metal to Tk 117,282.
Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) attributed this increase to the price hike of pure gold in the local market. The new price will be effective from Sunday (May 12), Bajus said.
This is the fourth time in a row that the price of gold has been hiked in the country. On May 8, the price of gold per bhori was increased by Tk 4,502, followed by Tk 735 on May 6, and Tk 1,050 on May 5. As a result of these four increases, the price of gold per bhori has now witnessed an increase of Tk 8,119 in total.
The Bajus also increased the price of other grades of gold.
As per the new prices, the price of one bhori 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,11,951.
In addition, the price of one bhori 18-carat gold has been raised by Tk 1,505 to Tk 95,960.
Before these price hikes, Bajus had brought down the price of gold by Tk 10,262 in eight consecutive phases.
