Gold prices cut by Tk 1,750 per bhori

Gold prices fell by around Tk 1,750 per bhori on local market within four days of price adjustment of the pure gold.

As per the decision of the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BJA), 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 8,420 per gram or Tk 98,211 per bhori (11.664 grams).

On September 28 (Thursday) the price of the yellow metal was revised downward to Tk 8,570 per gram or Tk 99,960 per bhori.

The latest pricing comes into effect today (Sunday), the BJA said in a press release.

"The value of pure gold has diminished in the local market," it said following a meeting of the BJA standing committee on pricing.

As per the new rates, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 8,040 per gram, 18-carat gold at Tk 6,890 and traditional gold at Tk 5,740.

The price of silver remained static at its previous rate.

22-carat, 21-carat and 18-carat silver costs Tk 147, Tk 140 and Tk 120 per gram respectively.

Every gram of the traditional or Sanatan white metal costs Tk 90.

The BJA requested all jewellery traders to deal in the pricey metals abiding by the defined price chart.

On August 25, per bhori gold price went as high as Tk 1,01,244.
