Govt fixes prices of 29 essential commodities including fish, meat

The Department of Agriculture Marketing (DAM) on Friday fixed the prices of 29 daily commodities, including fish, meat, vegetables, pulses, and spices, from the producer to the retail level, aiming to control the market during this Ramadan.
A DAM notification, authorised by its Director General Md Masud Karim, revealed that concerned agencies of the government would work to ensure the sale of products at the newly fixed prices.
Under the power of Section 4 (Jha) of the Agricultural Marketing Act, 2018, the DAM has determined the reasonable prices for agricultural products, it said.
Prices from producers to wholesalers to retailers have been fixed, according to the notification.
Agricultural produce is to be bought and sold at the newly set prices until instructed otherwise.
According to the new MRP, chickpeas will be sold at a maximum rate of Tk 93.
The maximum retail price of beef has been fixed at Tk 665, which is now Tk 850 in the market.
Besides, the price of goat meat (khasi) has been fixed at Tk 1003 and that of cultured pangas at Tk 181 a kg.
Chickpea and kheshari prices have been set at Tk 93 a kg, finer lentil at Tk 130, coarse lentil at Tk 105.5, and mung beans at Tk 165 a kg.
