The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has co-hosted an international webinar on accounting education, standards, and regulations in association with the Asia Pacific Management Accounting Association (APMAA) and the Bangladesh Accounting Association (BAA).
The webinar was held at 1:45 pm on Saturday under the theme of ‘Accounting in The Changing Environment’ to foster dialogue and share insights on navigating changes in accounting education, standards, and regulations, according to a press release.
The webinar was conducted in two different sessions covering four papers to engage a range of experts on the impact of a new horizon of innovations surrounding accounting education and the profession.
President of ICMAB, Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA chaired the first session where Prof. Samsul Alam, Derby Business School, University of Derby, UK, presented a paper titled "Allegiance to the CEO: Do co-opted boards suppress ESG disclosure?".
Meanwhile, Dr. Soheil Kazemian, Edith Cowan University, Australia, presented a paper on "The Triple Bottom Line Accounting for People, Planet, and Profit".
Similarly, the second session covered two papers on "Tips for International Publication in High-Quality Journals" by Prof. Dr. Khaled Hussainey, Bangor University, UK and "Financial Statement Fraud Detection Models for Sustainable Financial Market" by Prof. Masumi Nakashima, Bunkyo Gakuin University, Japan.
This session was chaired by Prof. Dr. S. M Sohrab Uddin, University of Chittagong.
Among others, Prof. Susumu Ueno, Chairman, APMAA, Prof. Dr. M. Harunur Rashid, President, BAA, Dr. Farhana Begum, Board of Directors, APMAA, Prof. Normah Omar, Board of Directors, APMAA, Prof. Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, ICMAB Council Member and Treasurer, University of Dhaka, participated in the webinar.
More than 500 participants from approximately 20 countries joined the webinar. These participants were from approximately 50 universities, colleges and institutes across the globe while 17 Universities of Bangladesh joined the event.
