ICSB Council meets BSEC chairman

The Council Members of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), led by its President Mohammad Asad Ullah, FCS, called on Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) at his office in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar on Thursday.

On behalf of the delegation, the ICSB president congratulated him for the four-year term extension of his tenure.

Mohammad Asad Ullah asked for the representation of ICSB Members in the Securities Exchange Commission’s Advisory Committee and in the Board of Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.

He also proposed, for a listed company, a company secretary should only be a fully Qualified Chartered Secretary from ICSB.

He reiterated to include the BSS-5 and BSS-6 of ICSB on ‘Virtual and Hybrid Meeting’ and ‘Resolution by Circulation’ in the Corporate Governance Code.

The ICSB president requested that the Secretarial Audit be introduced in the listed companies of Bangladesh.

The BSEC chairman gave a patient hearing to the delegation and appreciated the role of ICSB in promoting professionalism and development of the company secretaries’ profession in the country.

He hoped that through these activities Good Corporate Governance will be established in the corporate sector.

Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam also assured about the continuous support from him.

M NurulAlam, FCS, Senior Vice President, A K M Mushfiqur Rahman, FCS, Vice President, Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, FCS, Treasurer, Oli Kamal, FCS, Council Member, Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, FCS, Council Member, Md Zakir Hossain, Secretary & Chief Executive Officer and Md Shamibur Rahman, FCS, Executive Director (F&A) of the Institute were present during the meeting.
