LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has said that the restrictions imposed by India on the import of some commodities from Bangladesh through land ports would create new opportunities for the country to become self-dependent.

“The Indian restrictions, however, will cause some temporary losses for businessmen, but in the long run, we believe it will create an opportunity for Bangladesh to become self-reliant,” he said.

The adviser made this comment while responding to a journalist’s query following a youth rally at the National Youth Institute in Savar on Tuesday, according to a Facebook post shared by the adviser today (Wednesday).

Regarding the temporary losses faced by businessmen due to the Indian restrictions, the adviser said that these losses could help Bangladesh become self-sufficient in the future.

Speaking about the launch of the Starlink internet network, Asif Mahmud, who also serves as the Youth and Sports Adviser, said in another Facebook post that it would bring a revolutionary change to the telecommunications sector of Bangladesh.

“Particularly, Starlink will connect remote and inaccessible areas of the country to high-speed internet service where optical connectivity has yet to reach,” he stated.
