The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has directed all internet service providers (ISPs) to regularly submit their operational information to the Data Information System (DIS) of the commission by the 7th of every month.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the BTRC said failure to submit the operational information will lead to punitive action, including capping of bandwidth against non-compliant ISPs.

President of ISPAB Emdadul Hoque said there has been a provision for submitting data every month, but many ISPs do not comply with it. The notice is for the non-compliant ISPs, he said.

Currently, there are around 2,700 ISPs around the country, but more than half fail to submit operational data to DIS, according to the BTRC.
