Eid-ul-Azha: Rawhide prices increased by Tk 5 per sqft in Dhaka

The minimum price of a cow rawhide fixed at Tk 1,200 in Dhaka, Tk 1,000 elsewhere in the country

The prices of salt-applied rawhides and skins have been fixed for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, an increase of Tk 5.0 compared to that of the previous year.

The rawhide prices of salted sacrificial cows have been fixed at Tk 55-60 per square foot (sqft) in the capital city and Tk 50-55 per sqft outside Dhaka.

The prices of goat hides have been set at Tk 20-25 per sqft and the prices of baqri skins at Tk 18-20 per sqft.

The minimum price of per piece of cow rawhide has been fixed at Tk 1,200 and Tk 1,000 in Dhaka and outside Dhaka respectively.

Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather Goods and Footwear Exporters' Association (BFLLFEA) president Mohiuddin Ahmed Mahin announced the prices after meeting with the stakeholders including tanners, associations and traders of the leather sector with the state minister for commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu and commerce secretary Md. Selim Uddin at secretariat on Monday.

Last year, the prices of rawhides of sacrificial cows were Tk 50-55 per square foot (sqft) in the capital city and Tk 45-48 per sqft outside of Dhaka. The price of goat hides/skins was Tk 18-20 per sqft and the prices of baqri skins was Tk 12-14 per sqft.
