MTB Foundation distributes livelihood asset grants among fishing communities

MTB Foundation distributed livelihood asset grants to a large number of households of the vulnerable fishing communities at Bheola Manik Char and Kaiyarbill Unions, Chakaria Upazila, Cox’s Bazar District.

Initiative was taken as a part of the foundation’s project titled ‘Creating Alternative Livelihood for Vulnerable Fishing Communities through Income Generating Activities (IGAs)’, according to a press release.

Under this programme, MTB Foundation distributed materials for crab farming, duck farming, small businesses, and homestead gardening. These IGAs will be driven by the female family members of the fishermen during the fishing ban period, who will take the activities forward with a view to creating an income source throughout the year.

The event was attended by Samia Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of MTB Foundation. Among others, Md. Rabiul Hossain, Branch Manager, MTB Cox’s Bazar Branch, Md. Iqramul Bashar, Branch Manager, MTB Chakaria Branch of Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) and Shahabuddin Panna, Executive Director, Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS were also present at the event.
