The government has temporarily suspended National Board of Revenue Commissioner Zakir Hossain on charges of negligence of duty for disrupting revenue collection at Chattogram Port by keeping customs offices closed, suspending customs clearance at ports, and bringing export-import trade to a complete halt.
A notification, signed by NBR chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan, was issued in this regard on Tuesday.
He, however will receive all the facilities during the suspension period.
The order will be effective soon, the notification says.
