Noncompliant banks to face forced mergers: BB

Weak banks that won't merge with strong ones in the current fiscal year will be pressured into doing so starting next year, Bangladesh Bank has said.

The central bank conveyed this during a discussion with representatives of Bangladesh Association of Banks over the merger of weak banks with strong banks, local media reported.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder and other senior officials were present.
