Novartis, a leading multinational pharmaceutical company, has stepped up to support the post-flood rehabilitation efforts in Bangladesh.
On Tuesday, the company donated Tk 5.3 million to the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to aid the people affected by the recent floods in the country's eastern region, said a press release.
This contribution from Novartis aims to not only provide immediate relief to flood victims but also strengthen ongoing rehabilitation initiatives for long-term recovery.
"The people of Bangladesh have shown remarkable resilience and unity in the face of this disaster. Now, more than ever, we must come together to address the challenges of the post-flood situation," said Fahmid Wasik Ali, Country President and Managing Director of Novartis Bangladesh.
Fahmid Wasik Ali presented the donation cheque to Dr. Kabir M. Ashraf Alam, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, who expressed deep appreciation for Novartis’ generous contribution.
The recent floods, triggered by excessive rainfall and upstream water surges in August, have severely impacted nearly six million people across 12 eastern districts, leaving communities in urgent need of support.
