NRBC Bank, DRU provide scholarships to children of deceased journalists

NRBC Bank and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) have provided scholarships to children of deceased journalists for their education.

The children of the deceased 30 members of DRU will be provided with an annual scholarship of Tk 36,000 at the rate of Tk 3,000 per family per month, according to a press release. 

Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, Textiles and Jute, was present as the chief guest among the scholarship recipients at the DRU auditorium on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

NRBC Bank Director and Chairman of the Risk Management Committee AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Managing Director (Current Charge) Md. Rabiul Islam, DRU President Syed Shukkur Ali Shuvo, General Secretary Mohi Uddin, Welfare Secretary Tanvir Ahmed, Joint Secretary Md. Mizanur Rahman (Mizan Rahman) and others were present at the time.

Sheikh Bashiruddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, said at the event, "We will try to make the prices of food items and other items as bearable as possible on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan. I know you are in a lot of trouble. But I also want to say that we are continuing our efforts. The prices of onion, sugar and oil have already come down a little."

He also said, "Today's government was formed in a situation where the Khatib of our National Mosque has fled, and in such a situation, the student-public movement has led to the formation of this government. Our aim is to build a dignified society."

Speaking as a special guest, NRBC Bank PLC Director and Risk Management Committee Chairman AKM Mostafizur Rahman said, "The banking sector is one of the strengths of the country's economy. Through the writings of journalists, the country's banking sector and the entire economy are moving forward. NRBC Bank will be support always all times in your overall social and developmental work."
