The leading telecoms carrier Robi Axiata Limited has successfully completed 25 years of its digital service delivery and operation in Bangladesh this year.

Confirming the company's readiness to embrace digital future, Robi CEO Rajeev Sethi announced the launch of the third edition of the flagship platform, r-ventures 3.0, for budding young digital entrepreneurs.

He announced the company's commitment to investing up to Tk 25 million on digital start-ups who will make their way to the top of the competition.

Me Sethi's commitment came at a press conference held at a city hotel on Monday to commemorate this special occasion.

Earlier, chief commercial officer Shihab Ahmad said, "…Robi has always been looking to the future as it strategised to grow the business. This naturally pushed the company ahead of the industry curve when it comes to digital innovation."

"Hence, as we celebrate the successful completion of 25 years of operation of the company, we'd like to assure our customers that we're fully ready to ensure experiences in their lives in the digital future that lies ahead of us."

Highlighting Robi's contribution to socio-economic development, Mr Sethi said: "Since our inception, we've made close to Tk 30,000 crore as capex investment, and contributed close to Tk 39,000 crore to the government's exchequer."

"Our sprawling business operation around the country supports more than 100,000 jobs at the moment. Hence, our future is deeply entrenched in the future wellbeing of the country," he added.

Alluding to Robi's priorities, he said: "We fully realise that the company's future growth will rest on whether we're able to satisfy our customers with the quality of our service. Our priority for the future will be to listen to what our customers have to say about us."

Mr Sethi thanked the telecoms regulator, posts and telecoms division, and the government as a whole, for affording Robi space and guidance to grow its business.

He also lauded Robi's business partners for being a part of its historic journey of 25 years.

The CEO praised the present and past employees of Robi for successfully transforming the company for the next phase of growth in the digital era.

He thanked Robi's clientele for keeping their faith in it and also the media for "guiding the company all along our journey like a true friend".

Later, a TVC was unveiled, featuring Joy Barua Lablu, a Bangladeshi youth who has made a name for himself in the world for making low-cost bionic arm for people who have lost their hands or had their hands amputated.

He has very recently won the Joy Bangla Youth Award-2022 in the 'climate and innovation' category.

The TVC draws inspiration from Mr Lablu's tremendous success and urges everyone in society to come forward to make a difference with their digital skillset.
