Shahjalal Islami Bank awards scholarships to 350 poor meritorious students

Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited has awarded scholarships to 350 poor and meritorious students from different regions of the country.
The cheque for the scholarships was officially handed over at a programme organised at the Corporate Head Office of the Bank on Saturday, says a press release.
A total of 100 students attended the programme in person and received the scholarship money. The scholarship money for the remaining 250 scholarship students will be paid into their respective bank accounts within a specified period.
Chairman of the bank Mohammed Younus attended the programme as chief guest while Director and Chairman of the Bank Foundation Dr Anwer Hossain Khan, MP presided over the ceremony.
Director and Chairman of the bank's executive committee Akkas Uddin Mollah, Director and Vice-chairman of executive committee Fakir Akhtaruzzaman were present in the programe.
Managing Director and CEO of the bank Mosleh Uddin Ahmed delivered speech at the programme.
Among others, Additional Managing Director SM Mainuddin Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director Mustafa Husain, SEVP and Company Secretary Md Abul Bashar and the Head of Corporate Division and SEVP Amjad Hossain were present on the occasion.
Head of Public Relations Division and Bank Foundation Md Shamsuddoha (Shimu) moderated the programme.
Several students who were given scholarships also spoke on the occasion.
A total of Tk 19 million (One crore and ninety lakh) will be given to 350 students as scholarship who passed the SSC examination in 2022 and are currently studying at higher secondary level in various colleges across the country.
Among the 350 scholarship awardees, 170 are male students and 180 female.
MD and CEO Mosleh Uddin Ahmed said that this scholarship provided by Shahjalal Islami Bank is not only for financial support to the talented students but also for their motivation, courage and encouragement. It is bank’s recognition of the hard work of the meritorious students coming from society’s disadvantaged groups, he added.
