Sheikh Kabir reelected BIA president

Sheikh Kabir Hossain has been reelected president of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) for 2023-24 term while Nasir Uddin Ahmed and AKM Monirul Hoque have been reelected first vice president and vice president respectively.

The election was held at a city hotel on Monday, said a press release.

The 17 other members of the executive committee from the life insurance segment are Faridun Nahar Laily, chairman, Zenith Islami Life Insurance; Ishaque Ali Khan Panna, chairman, Diamond Life Insurance; Mojibul Islam, chairman, Sandhani Life Insurance; Syed Badrul Alam, director, Best Life Insurance; Adeeba Rahman, director, board of directors, Delta Life Insurance; B M Yousuf Ali, managing director & CEO, Popular Life Insurance; Md Jalalul Azim, chief executive officer, Pragati Life Insurance; Md Kazim Uddin, chief executive o, National Life Insurance; and Md Golam Kibria, chief executive officer, Rupali Life Insurance.

From the non-life segment, the elected members are Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, chairman, Union Insurance; Abdullah Al-Mahmud, chairman, Crystal Insurance; Hossain Akhtar, chairman, City General Insurance; Belal Ahmed, director, Janata Insurance; Alhaj Md Ismail Nawab, vice-chairman, Islami Insurance Bangladesh; Syed Shahriyar Ahsan, chief executive officer, Pioneer Insurance; Farzanah Chowdhury, managing director & CEO, Green Delta Insurance; and Md Imam Shaheen, chief executive officer, Asia Insurance.

In the election, Dr Abdus Shahid, MP acted as the chairman of the Election Commission (EC) while M G Quddus and Nizam Uddin Ahmed were the EC members.

Maj Gen (Retd) Abdul Hafiz Mollik was the chairman of the Election Appeal Board while Nishith Kumar Sarker was the secretary of the Election Board.
