Social Islami Bank launches remittance campaign

Social Islami Bank, in association with Western Union, has launched a special remittance campaign to encourage remittance inflow through banking channels at the bank’s head office. 

Zafar Alam, Managing Director and CEO, inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest, while Mohammad Forkanullah, Deputy Managing Director, presided over the programme on Monday, according to a press statement. 

Abdul Hannan Khan and Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Directors of SIBPLC, and Shihab Hasan, Regional Operations Manager, South Asia, Western Union, spoke at the event. 

Md Mozharul Haque, Chief Remittance Officer, Md Moniruzzaman, Head of Marketing and Brand Communication, Mohammed Ahsan Habib, Head of Treasury, Md Taohidur Rahman, Senior Specialist, Business Development Bangladesh, Western Union, Divisional Heads and senior executives of head office were also present at the event.

Zonal heads, branch managers, and sub-branch in-charges also joined the programme virtually, the release says. 

Zafar Alam, Managing Director and CEO, stated that remittance is an indispensable part of our economy.

He also added that this campaign aims at encouraging Bangladeshi expatriates to send remittances using banking channels.

Any remittance recipients will be awarded gifts for sending remittances through Western Union.

At the end of the campaign, one lucky winner will get the opportunity to perform Umrah, the release adds.
