Southeast Bank PLC held its “Annual Risk Conference 2024” via hybrid mode on Wednesday, October 09, 2024, at the Bank’s Head Office, Dilkusha, Dhaka.
Mr. Nuruddin Md. Sadeque Hossain, Managing Director of Southeast Bank PLC inaugurated the conference, according to a media release.
In his speech, Mr. Hossain emphasized on the importance of this Risk Conference in establishing a robust risk culture throughout the Bank.
He also highlighted the recent improvement in various indicators of the Bank. For example: The Bank’s operating profit in September 2024 stood at Tk.893.66 crore, reflecting a significant growth of Tk.285.83 crore which is 47% compared to the same period in the previous year, The Bank has been able to achieve 5% growth in deposit amounting Tk.2,074 crore and 7% growth in loans and advances amounting Tk.2,367 crore in the first nine months of the current year, The Bank decided to maintain an additional provision of Tk.100 crore considering future risks after completely meeting the previous year's provision deficit of Tk.330 crore in September 2024 and The Bank was able to achieve 22% growth in import business, 3% growth in export business and 38% growth in inward remittance in September 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year.
He thanked the Branch Managers including all the officials of Head Office for achieving the targets of the first 9 months of 2024. Every officials of the Bank were instructed to work together to continue this trend of success in the future and to increase the trend of growth in every parameter.
Ms. Mahmuda Haque, Joint Director, Department of Off-site Supervision, of Bangladesh Bank was present in the Risk Conference as speaker. The speaker, in her valuable speech, focused on various dimensions of risks faced by banks, their mitigation and industry best practices. As the financial landscape is constantly evolving and the nature of risk itself is transforming, she stressed the importance of integrating advanced risk management tools while fostering a culture of proactive risk awareness at all levels of the Bank.
Mr. Masum Uddin Khan, Mr. Abidur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Directors, & Mr. Khorshed Alam Chowdhury, Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer of the Bank along with all divisional heads and key executives of the Bank’s Head Office were physically present in the conference.
All Heads and Manager Operations of Branches, all In-charges of Offshore Banking Units, and all In-charges of Uposhakhas attended the conference online through digital platform, the release adds.
