Train services between Chattogram and the rest of the country will return to normal starting Tuesday. Intercity trains including Turna Nishita and Dhaka Mail are scheduled to depart from Chattogram for Dhaka tonight (Monday night).
The railway authorities have confirmed that all train services will operate at full capacity from Tuesday.
Saiful Islam, the divisional manager of Eastern Railways, stated that full-scale train operations will begin on Tuesday. However, he noted that some trains, which are currently not in Chattogram, will not depart from there.
When asked about which trains are not currently in Chattogram, Saiful Islam clarified that the Suborno Express is not in Chattogram but is in Dhaka, and will therefore start its journey towards Chattogram from Dhaka. Similarly, the Parjatak Express train is also not in Chattogram.
He added that it might take another two days to fully normalise the train schedules.
It is worth noting that heavy mountain runoff from India has damaged areas in Mirsharai, Feni, and Cumilla. Rail communications with Chattogram have been suspended for the past four days due to these disruptions.
