The number of registered trucks in the country nearly doubled over the past decade, thanks to people’s growing purchasing power as well as soaring economy, according to an official data.
A total of 72,103 trucks were registered during the period between 2011 and June 2020 while the number was 82,871 until 2010, according to statistics from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The BRTA data also showed that a total of 48,883 trucks in about one decade from 2011 to June 2020 were registered in Dhaka alone whereas the number of registered trucks in the capital city was 26,922 until 2010.
As many as 2,229 trucks were registered in the country from January to June of the current calendar year, it added.
