UCB holds skill development training for agri entrepreneurs in Natore

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) conducted a skill development training programme on Tuesday for 240 selected agricultural entrepreneurs from Natore district.

The training session, held under the project 'Bhoroshar Notun Janala', is part of UCB's agricultural support scheme aimed at fostering the development of commercial agriculture and ensuring food security in the country. Farmers from 7 upazilas of the district actively participated in this training initiative, according to a press release.

ATM Tahmiduzzaman, additional managing director and company secretary of UCB, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

In his address, Mr Tahmiduzzaman emphasised UCB's commitment to assisting marginalised farmers through various initiatives, including plantation drives, skill development training, technical assistance, installation of lightning protection devices, and provision of medical care and vaccination facilities for cattle. Additionally, UCB has been supplying organic fertilisers, improved seeds, and machinery to support agricultural endeavours.

Md Shah Alam Bhuiyan, deputy managing director of UCB; Rezaul Karim Siddique, a renowned presenter of BTV's agriculture-based show 'Mati O Manush' and an agricultural analyst; Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman, district livestock officer; Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, district fisheries officer; and Md Abdul Wadud, deputy assistant officer of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Natore, among others, spoke.

The welcome speech was delivered by UCB Branch Manager Md Selim Uddin.
