Movement of Jagannath University students

THE residential problem of Public Universities is quite well known. While number of students has increased manifold over the years, residential accommodation for students remains way behind requirement. As education is a basic requirement for development, the country is bound to suffer if students are not provided with basic facilities like residential accommodation. A public university without residential halls is like a bird without wings. A student must have a proper educational environment to concentrate on his/her studies. But sadly the JnU students are deprived of hall accommodation although some halls were allotted to them. But those halls do not fulfil half of their requirement.
The students of Jagannath University are demanding the premises of the former Central Jail where new residential halls can be constructed. We are optimist that the government will come forward and accept their demands for constructing new halls for enhanced accommodation of the students of Jagannath University.
