Nepal, being on the foothills of the mighty Himalayas, is one of the most preferred destinations for tourists.
It is also one of the most preferred countries to visit for the Bangladeshis due to the distance factor as Bangladesh and Nepal are situated near to each other, with the chicken neck of the Siliguri Corridor preventing both the countries from having borders with each other.
Nepal is full of wonders and going to Nepal is very much within the budget of every average Bangladeshi tourist. If visited by land, the budget for the whole tour would be even less.
Nepal stretching from east to west, being sandwiched between India and China, has a lot of jewels that ask to be visited.
Kathmandu:
Kathmandu is the capital city of Nepal and naturally, it has the most number of places worth visiting among all of Nepal.
The number of ancient historical sites, as well as temples in Kathmandu, is quite a lot. Among them, Pashupatinath Temple and the Royal Palace of Nepal which is colloquially known as Durbar Square are two of the locations that definitely need to be explored by tourists when travelling through Nepal.
Kathmandu also hosts the headquarters of SAARC.
Although visiting from Dhaka, Kathmandu might seem a bit rural due to the lack of infrastructure. Nonetheless, if you are someone who loves nature and history, visiting Kathmandu is a must.
Pokhara:
Pokhara is a city that bears the mountainous essence of Nepal. The city has some of the highest mountains in the world, namely Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna, hence heaven for hikers and people who romanticise the Himalayas.
It is much cleaner, more beautiful and cheaper compared to Kathmandu, despite being the second largest city of Nepal. Lake Phewa is also a must-visit for someone visiting Pokhara.
Bhaktapur:
Bhaktapur is an ancient Royal City situated just on the outskirts of Kathmandu. It also contains an extension of the Durbar square of Kathmandu, which was severely damaged during the earthquake that took place in 2015. One having a keen interest in history should pay a visit to this place while visiting Nepal.
Chitwan National Park:
Chitwan National Park is the place to visit if you want to take a look at the local wildlife. The park has Bengal Tigers, Leopards, Deer and as many as 500 species of birds. You can tour the park either on an elephant or by foot, obviously being accompanied by an experienced guide and a forest ranger.
The park is located very near to the Indian border and is a UNESCO-designated wildlife sanctuary.
Trekking to Mount Everest:
Almost all of us are familiar with mount Everest and going near the highest mountain in the world is one of the things on the bucket list for tourists willing to go to Nepal.
Everest is not really scenic like the other mountains, but the allure of the mountain makes it hard to resist for a lot of tourists visiting Nepal. However, one should not think about trekking unless he/she is experienced in the craft.
Lumbini:
Siddhartha, also known as Gautam Buddha is widely regarded as one of the most enlightened human beings in history and visiting Nepal gives one the privilege to go to the birthplace of this great Holy man. Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is situated almost 250 kilometres from Kathmandu and is in between Pokhara and the Chitwan National Park.
Nepal has many other lustrous places like Swyambhunath Temple, Langtang National Park etc. Very much within the budget, you can visit Nepal with a budget starting from Tk 15,000. The more places you travel, the higher it goes, however, avoiding flight makes it budget-friendly.
