With predictions of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for 9 Indian states, including Tripura.
Due to recent record rainfall in this border Indian state and the subsequent opening of dam gates, the flood situation has worsened in neighbouring Bangladesh.

Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura received red alert, while orange alert has been issued for Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.
