Mother Tongue Journalist Conference’s declaration submitted to UN

The declaration of the 2nd International Mother Tongue Journalist Conference held in Nepal last month has been submitted to United Nations.

President of the SAARC Journalist Forum Raju Lama and President of the National Forum for Newar Journalists (NFNJ) Nripendra Lal Shrestha handed over the declaration to Simrika Sharma, representative of United Nations in Nepal on Thursday.

NFNJ leaders Raju Napit and Srijana Newa were present at the time.

 “United Nations is positive to work and cooperate with NFNJ and SJF regarding mother tongue journalism in Nepal,” Sharma said.

She appreciated the initiative taken by NFNJ and SJF to preserve the mother tongue.

Raju Lama clarified the objectives of the conference and urged the United Nations to support initiatives on mother tongue journalism.

Nripendra Lal Shrestha called on the United Nations to support the declaration of the 2nd International Mother Tongue Journalist Conference, which was held in Kathmandu on June 13-14 with the participation of journalists from SAARC countries.
