“This journey of us is an endeavor of stacking all the beautiful picturesque stories of inspiring lives together in a place," so says the motto of Short Stories platform on Facebook. Starting its journey from 2021 to this date, it has succeeded to gather more than 115,000 followers and has been inspiring hundreds of youths to make their own success story. What is the purpose of creating this page in the first place? When asked about the origin of the "Short Stories" platform and the purpose behind its creation, the founder and page owner, Md Arif Hasan shared with us his own thoughts.
"The origin of the idea behind this page dates back to the time of the pandemic. During that time, students were filled with all sorts of negativity and quandaries. The feeling of falling behind bloodies more than it cuts. Everyone was pining for a source of mental help that they can hold on to. I, being a moderator of an admission-based group, started to share small pieces of positive notes to help the students out, so that they can feel better. Later I discovered that this small task was actually helping people, allowing them to attain a positive vibe. From there, the idea arrived of creating a space where we can keep all these quotes and stories that may induce a positive attitude in someone coming across it, along with all the important tips that may help a student or someone in the loss of a purpose. Our team wants to cover everything of that sort with our might."
Short Stories platform surfs stories of the lives of different people who have come a long way from the place the audience currently finds themselves in. Currently its additional group "Short Stories" has accrued more than 70,000 members, a number that shows how much the audience has taken an interest in the stories.
The page has been contributing to the positive refreshment pill to every living soul coming across the posts on it. They share their journey in life in the form of a written piece where the words paint an elaborated picture of the struggles they may have faced, the opportunities they came across, and how they could reach the goal of their life they wanted.
Such kinds of stories need verification of their authenticity. Arif mentions, "We ensure the verification of the stories through reliable sources, such as LinkedIn or Google Scholar. My personal connections from the media industry, as well as National TV media information, come in help as well."
The idea behind the page is not constrained by the boundary of only inspiring but also lending them a hand to help them achieve their dream. One of the biggest steps taken regarding this is the launching of ‘Ed-Mentors’. Ed-Mentors is a startup that mentors students who are about to be admissions soldiers or those who want to study abroad, as well as other related matters. There is a scarcity of mentors who would be willing to consult students regarding admission matters. Students who live in a city or the capital have connections and can seek counsel from their acquaintances. This concentration in one region causes a gap for individuals living in rural areas, preventing them from enjoying the same amenities. Mentorship has been provided to over 100 students to date. According to Arif Hasan, "a website will be launched soon with feature stories and sessions for students to consult."
All of the heads responsible for running the page are students themselves. Arif Hasan, the founder and owner of the platform, is an undergraduate student studying in the University of Dhaka. Along with him, five other members aid in developing the content for the page.
