Bangladesh has advanced significantly in its digital transformation thanks to initiatives from the government and the private sector. However, in terms of how far the nation can advance, this is merely the tip of the iceberg. Many studies show that there are significant economic advantages for the entire country when businesses and people live more digitally.  It is crucial that the nation has access to digital solutions, services, and the proper talents to tie these things together in order to facilitate and accelerate the digital transformation. Digital consulting is a term that has been used to describe this activity. Digital consulting is a crucial component of the IT sector that aids organisations in transforming continuously to adopt new technologies and find technological solutions to organisational issues.

On the other hand, Bangladesh is a popular outsourcing location for international organisations due to the advantages of recruiting talented and trained human resources as well as cost savings when outsourcing services from Bangladesh, such as digital consulting and IT enabled services (ITes). The IT and ITes sector in Bangladesh has expanded dramatically over the last few decades, earning the trust of major international firms like Monstarlab as a key market to not only source talented people but also to offer tech-solutions to Bangladeshi businesses.

Monstarlab is a global technology consulting firm that offers a range of digital solutions and services to its clients. With offices in over 33 locations worldwide, Monstarlab is focused on helping companies transform their businesses through the use of technology.

The company's services include digital strategy consulting, product development, design and user experience, mobile app development, web development, BPO and many other services (for more information visit: https://monstar-lab.com/global/). Their goal is to provide innovative solutions that help their clients solve complex business challenges and achieve their digital transformation goals, and create a borderless organisation that brings together the best talent from around the world to deliver value to their clients.

Monstarlab Enterprise Solutions (MLES) is a concern of Monstarlab Holding Inc. which extended its services in Bangladesh a few years ago. Recently, Executive Board Director and Chief Executive Officer of Monstarlab International Markets, Mark Jones, visited the local office of Monstarlab Enterprise Solutions (MLES) in Bangladesh. During the visit, Mark had the opportunity to meet the teams in both the finance and tech departments and discuss the company's strategy for Bangladesh and how to leverage the talent there to create a world-class technology offering for its clients. In an interview with the press, Mark Jones also shared his views and insights on those topics.

When asked about his thoughts about the future of digital consulting in Bangladesh, Mark told The Financial Express, “It is an interesting time to be in digital consultancy, as a lot of the markets are changing, and clients' expectations are changing.” Although the economic conditions present challenges, Mark believes that Monstarlab is well-placed to continue to grow strongly in the future.

Mark said it is an emerging market and that Monstarlab is successfully leveraging it from a technology skills perspective. Monstarlab Bangladesh’s office in Dhaka is unique across international markets because it supports multiple markets and multiple offices, including the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Monstarlab's large office in Japan.

“I think there is a real opportunity in Bangladesh to diversify potentially Strategic Services into design services, create a more holistic sort of service offering, and have a talent base as well that can provide support to multiple markets internationally, but also drive digital transformation as importantly, in Bangladesh itself,” Mark remarked.

He is satisfied with Bangladeshi talents, as he continued, “They are incredibly hardworking, flexible in terms of their attitude as well which is great because we work in a very fast-paced, dynamic environment and we can never predict what clients want to do next week, alone next month."

So having that flexibility and work ethic are critically important.”

He also emphasised their mindset of looking for solutions and solving problems, which is not limited to internal problems but extends to external ones. According to Mark, this positive can-do attitude is one of the key strengths of Bangladeshi teams.

About the potential growth of MLES and MLBD in procuring services from Bangladesh, he shared, “I think there is strong growth potential as we grow our business across international markets, we work with different types of clients, large and small that will change the demands and the capabilities that we need to provide to support our clients, and that will then drive demand and diversification in Bangladesh itself.”

Mark revealed his team's vision of expanding Bangladeshi talents' core capabilities, deepening their strength and experience in mobile and web application development, and diversifying into new and emerging technologies, such as the metaverse, augmented reality, virtual reality, and immersive technologies. He believes these would drive interest from investors and clients and attract talented individuals to the organisation who want to work on great projects in fantastic locations using bleeding-edge technology.

“In terms of areas of improvement, this is not specific to any of the teams here any more than it is any of our teams anywhere in the world. Collaboration and cooperation are the core to our success,” Mark noted.

He stated that being borderless and putting the best talent in front of their clients anywhere in the world is essential to creating value and differentiation. Amplifying an individual's impact is also critical to success. By emphasising the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and amplifying individual impact, Monstarlab seeks to continue its growth trajectory and provide clients with exceptional service.

Any special advice for the upcoming talents of Bangladesh? Mark replied, “Go out there and make an impact. Do not wait for opportunities to come your way. There is positive value in productive challenges and challenging human orthodoxies and the status quo. We should not be just trying to iterate solutions, we should be looking at reimagining why that service that product exists in the first place and what value it creates."

"Always try and think differently, it’s not only about improving an organisation like Monstarlab but also making a societal impact and improving the lives of friends, family, and the people around them through technology,” Mark concluded.

Mark has his eyes on the future and believes Monstarlab Enterprise Solutions will shine here while boosting local skills. He believes that Bangladesh is an effective base for developing technology products and that the talent available in the local market is great. With the satisfaction of the skills, work ethic, and passion of the talent pool in Bangladesh and heavy investment in employee growth and development, Monstarlab is well-positioned to retain top talent in the company and continue to grow strongly.
