Nevertheless, the act of "live and let live", nay, the path to attain it, is extremely taxing, both physically and mentally. I am lacking brevity here, but this is somewhat of a makeshift Nirvana-esque state to achieve.
Because, as human beings, we are devices of emotion.
Even the strongest of us can fall prey to basic urges and sentiments. When the mental side gets affected, the physical side also aligns with it. Not many can think of the current stay in this world as a sojourn.
Haven't the youth always rebelled against the foundation? Be it the rush of blood or the call of the age, the result often becomes the same. Not acting out is strongly advised because that momentary lapse of judgment can be fatal, career-wise, unless done perfectly.
Unlike the reels and vids in social media, the so-called 'Attitude' statement of the Andrew Tate-esque culture, even for once, will be labelled as impertinent, even more so considering the South Asian culture.
Feels uncomfortable to bring up this reference now, but the best part of surviving the diversity is to learn from it by observing, quite similar to how Israel started at the beginning, getting a strip of land from Palestine. With time, you learn and grow, and then you can assess how to behave and what to do in what situations.
Just like any good brand, one must have that knack for perpetual upliftment and getting on with the time. Some have it naturally; some have to put in painstaking efforts to learn. At the end of the day, keeping an open mind and being a sponge are the keys to absorbing as much as possible from the outside environment.
What worked five years ago might not work today; even yesterday's strategy might succumb to failure in less than 24 hours. Yes, some basics are always the same, but it is safer to keep an eye on the lookout for new aspects of the behaviour of human nature. Because plans can backfire any time, any day, without even batting an eyelash, this turns a snowflake into a real person who can deal with anything thrown at them, a true epitome of turning lemons into lemonade.
Then again, as humans, we have a threshold, a certain bar up to which we can tolerate or take. (Yes, delving slightly into the mental health side now because we spend most of our day at the office now, at least most of us.) There will be phases where you do not want to learn and you do not want to take anything anymore.
We all know goodie two shoes who went astray in the latter part of their life, or at least have done that one thing which does not go with them (yours truly proudly confesses to this). That takes the surroundings by surprise, but that is very easily fathomable.
It is just breaking the circle, being unpredictable, or mostly just breaking the routine. Yes, I kind of like the concept of why weekends and Sabbath days were created in the first place.
But enough of haranguing about this. Let us get back to the issue at hand. While talking about the office, how can I not pay tribute to the mockumentary The Office?
In the words of the famous accountant Oscar Martinez, "The Dunder Mifflin stock symbol is D.M.I. Do you know what that stands for? Dummies, Morons, and Idiots. Because that's what you'd have to be to own it. And as one of those idiots, I believe the board owes me answers."
Do they? They definitely do, but it is etched in stone for both parties involved. This keeps transparency, and, like any other relationship, proper communication can make so many potential red flags go poof and can mend existing chinks in the armour of a relationship. Neither party is unerring.
If one wants to play the blame game, it will be a 1000-year war. At times, having a stronghold of faith helps. Of all people, the newbies should have that strong faith, at least for a while, and learn to be patient because management like Pat Cummins is also there, who might NOT be your day-to-day Shakib Al Hasan-esque, sort of outspoken bloke.
Maybe they do not show a lot of aggression out on the field, but they read the pitch better, make the right decision, and get the work done at the end of the day. After all, faith and hard work can move mountains!
At the end of the day, it is always better and more satisfying to answer with your work or results. If you do not believe me, watch the highlights of the final of the Cricket World Cup, how the herculean effort of another not-a-loudmouth turned his bat into a wand and waved the Harry Potter spell "Silencio" on the country where cricket is a religion, who were so sure of winning it that even when 50% of the match were not over, the organizers decided to play winning songs and chants, whose team was red hot in form, who allegedly extracted every ounce of advantage of having the home condition; and turned it into a deafening silence.
